I’m Still Single Because I Don’t Want to Marry an Asshole

Ah, Ezinne, I love your strength. I’m 51 and I’ve been married for 29 of those years. Divorced once and well, y’all know the rest…I tell my daughter that if she does want to get married some day, she should be at least 35, able to take care of herself financially, and perfectly happy in her own skin. Marriage is work; I know folks argue against it, but the fact is, marriage is a series of trade-offs that either work, or don’t. And when they don’t? You either settle in for a life of unfulfilled needs swathed in bitterness, or you divorce. Being single has its DEFINITE attractions.
