The ‘lion-man’ — an ivory figurine from the Stadel Cave in Germany (c. 32,000 years ago) is believed to be one of the first indisputable examples of art, and of the ability of the human mind to imagine things that do not really exist. Art, in mankind’s history, evolved as a form of expression, until it started getting traded. Art pieces started having monetary valuations and that is how ‘art’ entered the world of TRADE. How is $TRADE a Work of Art?
A brief note into our history. Established in 2014, Polytrade is a receivables finance company that caters to the working capital needs of small and medium scale enterprises, thereby helping them fulfill their orders to large global enterprises like Walmart, IKEA, Nike, etc. We have financed US$ 0.5 bn worth of invoices in the real world. With an in-depth awareness of pain-points and issues faced by SMEs, Circa 2021, we started developing a blockchain-based decentralized finance protocol that will harness the massive liquidity pool of the crypto world to meet the working capital needs of SMEs globally by tokenizing real-world invoices and bringing them on-chain into the DeFi space. The untapped opportunity in trade finance is of the order of $ 1.7 trillion, and by connecting buyers, suppliers, insurance service providers, and investors through a seamless platform, Polytrade aims to transform and amplify global trade for healthy economic growth.
Any protocol that aims to facilitate the growth of the world economy can not merely be a protocol but a milestone in global trade and a tribute to the evolution of the craft perfected by our ancestors — called TRADE. And thus, it qualifies as a work of art.
Why now?
As Darwinism dawns on the age-old ways of the trade finance industry, we stand at the cusp of evolution with our upcoming listing on Polkastarter and Gate. And to mark the occasion, we decided to pay a small tribute to the evolution of the craft called trade. The Olympic Games have traditionally rewarded the pinnacle of human achievement in skill and physical superiority. However, till date, there have been no medals dedicated to excellence in the trade. With the launch of our TRADE NFT, we intend to mint a handful of collectibles that will always be remembered as a celebration of the craft of trade.
