Potato Ricer to the Rescue, Who Knew

Have you ever been making something and wondered if there is a better way to do it?

This happened to me making banana bread years ago. My youngest son was about 5 yrs old. I was grumping because I couldn’t get the ripe bananas mash smooth enough; I can’t stand getting a chunk of banana when I bite into a nice piece of banana bread, wrecks the whole experience.

As I was smashing and mashing (and grumbling) my son walked over to a drawer in the kitchen and pulled out my potato ricer and says “ use this momma”. I did and it was the perfect way to get my ripe bananas all smooth and ready for my recipe.

I have used my potato ricer every time since with splendid results.

Your potato ricer truly is a very handy kitchen aid. I always use it for making mashed potatoes as I do not like when they get all gluey from over whipping; that is simply the worst! I use it for sweet potatoes, squash, pumpkin, etc. You get the nice fine texture every time, no strings, no lumps.

Dig that potato ricer out of the back of your drawer and start finding new ways to use it.
