Javier Milei, the Annoying Scoundrel — A Criticism of Argentine Misgovernment
The Disillusionment of a Politician in Despair in His Speech About Brazil
During the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Balneário Camboriú, Santa Catarina, Javier Milei, the Argentine president, not only revealed himself to be an annoyed scoundrel, but also exposed a blatant hypocrisy in his speech about Brazil. “The same people who talk about democracy, pluralism and oppression are those who break the rules and even interrupt the constitutional order,” declared Milei. However, such words seem more like a mirror of his own behavior and the deterioration he has imposed on Argentina.
Milei fiercely criticized freedom of expression in Brazil, calling Brazilian policies “aberrations”. Ironically, it is Milei’s own government that has led Argentina to a state of chaos and suffering for its population. Since taking power, Milei’s administration has been marked by abuse, incompetence and a series of crises that have left the country on the brink of collapse.
Milei’s disastrous management became evidently clear during the recent gas crisis in Argentina. In the fall, Argentina, which sold its state-owned companies to the US, exported so much gas to the United States that it was left without enough stock to serve its own population and industry. This forced the country to ask Brazil for help, demonstrating a complete lack of planning and consideration for the well-being of its own citizens. And even when he was desperate for help, Milei tried to default Brazil by not paying for gas purchases, showing a level of dishonesty that could only come from a politician as despicable as him.
Javier Milei personifies the lying politician par excellence. In his speeches, he criticizes exactly the actions he himself takes. When talking about breaking rules and disrupting the constitutional order, Milei perfectly describes his own actions and omissions. He accuses Brazil of not respecting freedom of expression, while his own administration in Argentina continually weakens the rule of law and people’s trust in its institutions.
Under Milei’s misrule, Argentina became an example of state fragility in Latin America. The country’s economy is in shambles, unemployment is rising, and poverty is spreading like a plague. Milei’s empty rhetoric and destructive policies have pushed Argentina into an ever deeper abyss.
Javier Milei had the audacity to insinuate that Brazil is censoring the media, stating that “aberrations are committed in terms of freedom of expression, and how this is happening here in Brazil…”. However, it is Milei himself who has a shameful record of censorship and repression of the media in his own country.
Since taking power, Milei has closed several state-owned companies to disseminate information, a measure that he justified as a way of cutting expenses, but which in reality aimed to silence voices critical of his government. Accusations of censorship intensified especially during strikes and demonstrations, when Milei’s government attempted to stifle media coverage of these events.
On several occasions, journalists reported intimidation and threats by the Argentine government. Attempts to control the narrative and suppress dissent reveal a leader who has no real commitment to freedom of expression. While Milei points the finger at Brazil, he conveniently ignores his own actions that undermine press freedom and transparency in Argentina.
Milei’s administration has also been accused of manipulating information and using security forces to suppress protests, thus silencing voices opposing his regime. His hypocrisy is blatant and his attempt to divert attention from his own failures only underlines his inadequacy as a leader.
Javier Milei is a perfect example of a politician who projects his own faults onto others, trying to mask the reality of his disastrous government with baseless accusations and inflammatory rhetoric. By criticizing Brazil, he does nothing more than expose his own deficiencies and the hypocrisy that permeates his administration.
Furthermore, he also made unfounded and disrespectful statements by insinuating that Jair Bolsonaro is suffering legal persecution in Brazil. Milei stated that Bolsonaro is a victim of a judicial campaign, completely ignoring legitimate investigations conducted by Brazilian institutions.
This attitude by Milei is unacceptable and disrespectful, as it violates the norms and rules of diplomatic relations between sovereign nations. It is an outrage that a foreign president comes to Brazil and tries to destabilize the federal government’s vision of strength and power.
Milei chose to participate in an event alongside Jair Bolsonaro, who is facing several accusations and investigations. Bolsonaro is being investigated for corruption, insinuations of a coup, jewelry theft and other criminal activities. Milei’s stance in defending Bolsonaro and suggesting that he is a victim is not only wrong, but also dangerous, as it legitimizes impunity and corruption.
This attempt to destabilize the Brazilian government is an affront to Brazil’s sovereignty. Javier Milei is a complete scrutiny of the worst type of politician that exists in the world, a scoundrel with a ridiculous hairstyle, trying to project his flaws onto our country. His government is marked by corruption and incompetence, and he has no morals to criticize or try to destabilize Brazil.
Brazil should seriously consider cutting trade relations with Argentina while Milei is in power. Argentina depends enormously on Brazil for its economic stability, and without our support, it is likely that it will face an even greater crisis than the one it is already experiencing. If we decide to collect all the debt owed to us, the Argentine economy could quickly collapse. Milei is a deadbeat scoundrel who does not deserve our trust or our support.
The Brazilian government needs to adopt a firm stance against Milei’s statements and actions, showing that we will not tolerate disrespect or attempts at destabilization. Brazil is a sovereign and powerful nation, and we will not allow a flawed and corrupt politician like Javier Milei to tell us how to conduct our internal affairs.
People need to understand that, whether they voted for Lula or not, he represents Brazil. Lula is the face and body of Brazil today, and allowing disrespectful actions like those of Javier Milei is giving the world freedom to continue disrespecting us. Such attitudes have direct and negative consequences for our economy, our currency and our international image.
Regardless of internal political differences, Lula is the democratically elected president and, therefore, the figure that symbolizes our nation on the global stage. Disrespecting Lula is disrespecting Brazil. Javier Milei, by attacking our government and our institutions, not only disrespected our country, but also tried to weaken our authority and our sovereignty.
It is unacceptable for Milei to come to our soil and make statements that undermine the legitimacy of our government. He tried to destabilize our image, favoring personal and regional political interests. Milei met with Jair Bolsonaro, a former president being investigated for corruption and other serious charges, and insinuated that he is a victim, distorting reality and ignoring ongoing legal proceedings.
The Brazilian people must demand a firm response from the government. We must seriously consider ending trade relations with Argentina as long as Javier Milei continues to act disrespectfully. Our economy is strong and we have the power to influence the stability of our neighbors. If we cut commercial ties and demand payment of the debts owed to us, Argentina will face serious economic difficulties.
We can no longer tolerate disrespect, especially from a flawed and corrupt politician who tries to project his shortcomings onto our country. It’s time to stand up and show the world that Brazil demands respect and will no longer accept being left behind. Javier Milei is a scoundrel, and his actions are unacceptable. It is time to act and defend our sovereignty with determination.
It is unacceptable for the Brazilian media to broadcast Javier Milei’s speeches without defending Brazil and without presenting the true facts about the reality of our country and Argentina. In doing so, the media becomes complicit in the lies and hypocrisy propagated by Milei. While he blatantly lies about freedom of expression, the media prefers to remain silent, forgetting what Brazil went through during the Bolsonaro years.
By not challenging Milei’s fallacies, the media is betraying its duty to inform and educate the public. It is your fundamental role to question, investigate and present the facts, especially when a foreign politician comes to our country and tries to destabilize our sovereignty with unfounded accusations. Media silence in this context is not only a professional failure, but also dangerous complicity with misinformation.
During his speech, Milei criticized Brazil for alleged “aberrations in terms of freedom of expression”, a deeply ironic accusation coming from a president who has a history of censorship and repression of the media in his own country. However, instead of confronting this hypocrisy, many media outlets chose to broadcast his words unchallenged. This demonstrates a lack of commitment to the truth and a submission to distorted narratives.
The Brazilian media should remember what happened during Bolsonaro’s government, when press freedom was threatened and disinformation ran rampant. Silence in the face of Milei’s lies is a betrayal of the memory of these difficult times and a failure to protect the democratic values we hold dear. By not defending Brazil and not exposing the reality of Argentina under Milei, the media is once again failing in its essential role as guardian of truth and justice.
