“Expanding The Horizon/Expanding The Parameter”
After nearly three months on board as Pramana’s NY partner, several Tough Mudder competitions, a ritual bloodletting, and the required application of a Pramana Collective tribal tattoo, the other partners saw fit to allow me to write a blog post. So, here’s the news:
“We are pleased to announce several additions to the Pramana Collective that not only expands our physical footprint, but the capabilities and creative thinking of our organization as well.”
In June, the hiring of yours truly established Pramana’s first foothold in New York City. Since then, we have been actively engaged in finding unique and talented people to round out the team and, more importantly, ensure I have other people to talk to on a daily basis besides my Carol Channing doll. And we have succeeded in this endeavor with the hires of Kamyl Bazbaz and Kristen Whisenand.
Kamyl joins us after spending the last eight years working in various roles on political campaigns, in the government, and in the non-profit world, including the last two as Chelsea Clinton’s Press Secretary and Senior Communications Advisor for the Clinton Foundation. Prior to that, he was a Deputy Assistant Administrator for Public Affairs and Spokesman at USAID. While several of us at Pramana have significant public affairs experience, Kamyl has lived in this world and we have no doubt this expertise will benefit his new colleagues and clients alike.
Kristen joins us from Rent The Runway, where she was director of public relations, overseeing corporate and executive comms and launching (among other things) its brick-and-mortar locations and the “Unlimited” subscription program. Prior to that, she spent nearly five years at Yelp, handling a diverse range of duties, including heading up North American PR, crisis communications, product launches, and local market outreach. She just adopted a dog, so in addition to our Yelp vs. Foursquare dynamic, there’s also the cat vs. dog thing we’ll need to work out…
To house the three of us, we have secured a NYC office space thanks to the kind folks at WeWork Chelsea. If you’re in the neighborhood, we’d love to get a coffee/rosé/whiskey with you.
And, in our San Francisco office, we have added Caroline Caswell to the team. Caroline brings nearly ten years of brand and social marketing experience to complement our core strength in strategic and policy communications. Most recently, Caroline led the consumer marketing and social media efforts for Shazam, and has worked for other leading brands, including W Hotels. As I can personally attest, Caroline brings energetic and creative thinking to any engagement with a “can’t stop/won’t stop” work ethic that inspires all around her. Caroline is already involved with several of our clients and is close to displacing me as the mayor of Pramana SF on Swarm.
The additions of Caroline, Kristen, and Kamyl have significantly increased the size and scope of Pramana, and the number of clients we can engage on a monthly basis. If you have a need — we’d love to talk.
