Take the Throne

I need to win.
I need to sit on a throne.
Embrace the grind, they say.
Climb that ladder, they say.

And every day, I do just that.

A life of glory,
Or a life of small successes.
Which matters most,
Which means less.

Belong to the collective,
Or assert your individuality.
If the world sees it, or not
Failure doesn’t lie in effort.

It lies in not trying.

I’m not coming after my throne.
I’m building it,
Piece by piece, struggle after struggle.
Here’s my blood, my pain, and my faith.

Time to move, there’s a seat waiting to be filled.
