Jallikkattu and being ‘apolitical’
Seeing quite a few analyses praising the Jallikkattu protests for keeping “politicians” away and remaining “apolitical”. The last time we heard this was during the anti-corruption protests led by that buffoon Anna Hazare. Even then, politicians were shooed away like what we saw this week. But, as it turned out, the protests were organised by the RSS front organisation Vivekananda International Foundation. And, the protests played no small part in laying the foundation for the BJP-Modi campaign for 2014 general elections. We can only hope that there is no master of puppets hiding behind these protests. Wish we had such massive protests against demonetisation, farmer suicides and cow killings. Saying this, despite seeing those mock burials for Modi and Susu swamy in Tamil Nadu yesterday. Glad about it, still.
