The London Restaurant Festival — What You Need to Know

It’s been 10 years since the first annual festival started and it never failed to gather some of the best talents in the restaurant industry.
This October, the month-long London Restaurant Festival will be hosted by more than 400 restaurants and is expected to attract more than 50,000 visitors. Expect the area to be very busy and the hotels to be fully booked so those who are planning to take part in this once a year culinary event are advised to plan early and get their reservations arranged well ahead of the start of the festival.
There will be lots of activities during this four-week extravaganza which will include chef-hosted events and exclusive dinners. The focus of this year’s theme will be on the London restaurant industry’s international nature, wherein 10 cuisines will share the limelight. There will one-off diners that will be held throughout the celebration with each expert chef taking on a different cuisine as their supper’s theme.
Making the lineup are the culinary stars Duangporn ‘Bo’ Songsisava, Dylan Jones, and Bill Granger who will be cooking at Som Saa, Nieves Barragan cooking alongside Javier Oliveros at Sabor, and Martin Morales joining Pedro Miguel Schiaffino to cook at Ceviche. Chef-hosted events will be headed by Adam Handling at The Frog, Monica Galetti at Mere, and Ben Chapman at Kiln.
Celebrating the strong restaurant offering of the capital are 20 tasting menus which will be offered exclusively at different eateries located in London. These include Greyhound Café, Kiln, and Som Saa.
Taking place during the course of the festival on October 6–7 and also October 27–28 is the ‘Ultimate Gastronomic Weekends’. On the first weekend, meet and greets will be held for Wright Brother’s Richard Kirkwood, Vivek Singh, Francesco Mazzei, Melissa Hemsley, and Michel Roux Jr. The second weekend will be Michelin-studded which will be featuring visits to London’s leading restaurants Angler, City Social, and Club Gascon. There will also be a special lunch event at Bibendum’s Claude Bosi. You can choose to stay at any of the self catering apartments in London to visit this awesome event.
