Entrepreneurs, Don’t Be A Power Hog
There is a difference between a boss, and a leader.
I have been fortunate to work on a variety of projects, ranging from industry to industry, with people from around the world who are passionate to create something. This has resulted in everlasting friendships, and enemies.
Before a project begins, you must have a team. Equal playing field, everyone in the right mindset, everyone trying to achieve the same goal. If everyone could be like this, the world would be perfect and projects would be successful left and right, but this is not the case.
People, especially young entrepreneurs, have the tendency to be a “Power Hog.” Someone commanding their members to do the grunt work, while they set upon a throne and shine for others to see. Their say goes, no questions asked.
Every project needs a leader, someone capable of making decisions, but its the input you receive back from your team, either lower or equal management fields, that makes you transparent. Not everyone can make the final decision, but make your team feel included. Everyone wants an equal say in the group, company, organization, what have you. While there are restrictions on how far you can go with this, it makes your team members feel valuable. If your team does not feel valued, why should they work for you? They are contributing their time and resources for little or no pay at this point, they can leave just as easily they joined.

Its nearly midnight. I am struggling to find the right words to put in this piece. While I can ramble on and on trying to describe this in text, one of my mentors in 2013 showed me this image. Everything I have been trying to say in this post, can be summarized by this one image.
Don’t be a power hog, be a leader.
