DevOps World and London DevOps

As expected, DevOps World on Wednesday was a great day. We met a ton of great people, attended some really interesting talks, and that was all before London DevOps in the evening.

The speed networking event was a load of fun, and also very useful. Check out our consultant Jack getting into it!

London DevOps in the evening was again a great success. As ever, the event was packed, with around 300 attendees.

Aaron Carey and Jim Vanns from ILM, the FX firm who have worked on the new Star Wars film, spoke about Mesos, Docker and Ansible and how they are part of the visual effects process.

As part of London DevOps’ collaboration with SoftLayer, who are a new event sponsor, Anthony Kesterton spoke about IBM Bluemix and DevOps. This was a great start to a fledgling partnership between the meetup group and SoftLayer. Anthony brought years of experience and expertise to the event, which shone through in his talk.

Nic Ferrier finished the night with a really captivating talk about why “You Don’t Need No DevOps Team”. Nic discussed the challenges of breaking down doors in traditional large enterprise environments, and showed how he had increased the number of releases in a large financial services institution from tens to hundreds per year.

So, yeah. A great day.

Make sure to follow London DevOps on and on Twitter, to stay up to date with all the latest happenings.

DevOps World is finished for this year, but stay up to date with them for information about future conferences.
