Winter Fancy Food Show 2016 a.k.a. “Foodie Heaven”
One of my favorite parts of going to Costco or Trader Joe’s is trying samples. I know many of you might share this with me. And you might also know, if you go during lunch time on the weekend at Costco, you pretty much can get a full meal worth of samples. Many flock just for this experience or schedule around these tastings.
What some of you might not know is that sampling experience that we all love has an atomic level called the Winter Fancy Food Show. It literally is “Foodie Heaven”. Why?
For three days you have access to 80,000 products and 1,400 exhibitors under one roof of the finest cheese, chocolates, hors d’oeuvres, wines, kombucha, candies, organic, gluten-free and non-GMO specialty foods from all over the world. This is where your mom and pop with a unique hot sauce can get discovered by a retailer and will be next hot (pun some?) thing on your shelf.
Our first year which we also documented and was one of our first blogs. This being our 2nd year in attendance marked a transcendence for us. We were now, a familiar face to some of the brands. Some asked for our iPad app and when they found out about our newest platform, Product Blast, they congratulated us on the progress and thought it was a clever upgrade. The whole thing felt a bit like sophomore year in high school, you know, not being the freshmen lost, knowing nothing of queues, customs, or protocols but still not the cool seniors who everyone knows, but no worries, in time 😉
In this post, we wanted to share highlights, favorite booths and brands, and cool all around things we saw.
Kombucha Pong anyone? With a fun twist on the good ol’ college game, they had people lining up to play. We definitely by here to show off some skills and try their yummy Strawberry flavor.
Do you like cookies? Do you like chips? Then you gotta try the HannahMax Cookie Chips. This was a 3ft tall bag at their booth, see those smaller bags hanging in the back, yeah those are like 12–14 inches already. MMMMmmmmm, cooookies 😛
When you’re walking through 7 miles of samples, what’s your favorite afternoon pick me up? Ours was this waffle cone cup filled with an espresso shot. We zoomed through the rest of that day.
Here’s our buddy at “That’s It” is clearly reading to launch their product though Product Blast. He already has his outfit and gear on!
JellyBelly went all out this year with large portraits of Batman and Mona Lisa with thousands of jelly beans to make these pictures. This is candy pointillism at its extreme.
This portrait was about 6ft in height. It must have taken days!
