Renee,

I think I’ve read some of your writing before but I can’t remember. (I got a notification from Medium, tapped on it and started reading your article.) I mention potentially having read some of your work before because I know that I’ve recently started following a writer whose first language is not English.

If your first language is not English, then I highly recommend you have someone who is a native speaker look over your work before you publish.

The sentence I have highlighted and am responding to is in fact not a sentence. It is a sentence fragment. We’re missing some information.

Even as a native speaker, I do occasionally make these flubs in my own writing. This is only natural: when composing a the keyboard, my fingers can’t keep up with my mind and I wind up not recording words necessary to make the writing flow. However, if you’re writing in a Medium publication about writing, such a glaring error in your first paragraph is unbecoming. I highly suggest you have someone proofread your articles in future.

I hope that you can take this constructive criticism and use it to make your writing even better.
