Downtown: Manhattan in Manchester

Concierge, spa, media room, gym, roof gardens, café, business centre, climate controlled food delivery storage — amenities buyers of luxury Manhattan apartments have come to expect as standard. And soon, so will buyers in…Manchester?

A brand new scheme by renowned developers Villafont — part of McGoff Group — is bringing “hotel-style” living to the banks of the River Irwell. Perched on the water’s edge in Manchester’s historic Castlefield quarter, Downtown will provide 368 generously sized apartments from one-beds to three-bed family units. The apartments are expected to appeal to both investors and owner-occupiers alike.

The developer has followed the trend for hotel-style amenities at upmarket developments in New York and thinks they could be a big hit in Manchester as buyers & renters place more value on convenience and quality of life in the city.

Leach Rhodes Walker are the architects behind the project’s design which features full-height windows and open-plan living & dining areas. “The Downtown scheme sets a new benchmark in terms of quality in the area.” Christian Gilham, Director of LRW Architects.

Downtown has attracted the praise of many in the industry with real estate giant Cushman Wakefield’s Director of Development & PRS, Ben Roberts proclaiming “Downtown Manchester will be one of Manchester’s premier riverside locations.”

Initial demand has been strong with one of the six blocks that make up the development being purchased entirely by an institutional investor. Prices start from around £140,000 through new homes agency PropertySeed.
