निर्भया (no fear)

I know that I’ve seen these people before,
They always dance the same on any dance floor.
The music’s so loud they might as well be deaf,
I just turn around with whatever soul I’d got left.

I start heading for the bus stop across the street,
I swear I would be killed if I wasn’t so fast on my feet;
I dodge and I jump, I swirl and I twirl, to save myself
And reach the bus stop with whatever soul I’d got left.

I hop onto the bus hoping it’d take me home,
Not knowing that the driver was in a mood to roam.
The conductor starts pulling and a-tugging at my dress,
Says he wants to steal whatever soul I’ve got left.

I poke him in the eye and jump out of the window,
Sit on the road for a week in a state of limbo .
I realise that people will do anything to feed their flesh,
Even feed on good bodies who had some soul left.

I finally get up and start slowly to walk again.
Trying to forget the shit I have been through, the pain,
Maybe even laugh at it cause I know I am truly blessed
Cause no matter what, I’ll always have some soul left.
