I think you’ve identified the problem — you were building for the fun of building and then seeing if money followed, and that’s not a thing that works.
I also think you’ve got disjoint solution space well defined. Space 1 is to take your improved skills and reputation and just concentrate on your day job so you can have family/work balance with a reasonable salary.
Space 2 is to take your extensive experience with about half of a business and find someone else who’s good at the other half and has enough overlap for the two of you to do a good job spitballing.
These aren’t hugely incompatible; you could curate your social life to try to create chances to meet people who occupy Space 2 and be otherwise opportunistic.
