Qanda: questions and answers for all

Ask a friend about her favorite place in the world, ask an athlete about his greatest victory or ask a refugee about the place they left behind. What you get in return is wonderful: an authentic human story. A story that can inspire many, but would have stayed hidden for you and the world without that one single thing: your question.

That’s probably why media love them so much: you can’t open a newspaper or turn on a television without seeing a Q and A. Questions liberate knowledge, they set it free to be shared with everybody.

This is why we are so passionate about Q and A interviews and why we created a tool, an app, allowing everybody to create them! We called it Qanda.

The perfect question

We believe that clear questions get clear answers. That’s why Qanda encourages the user to write a short, straight to the point question. The question is written because text is really easy and fast to be sent. This way, it fits in a Tweet or a text message, but also in an email or a Facebook message.

Because you can reach out to anybody on Twitter with a simple ‘@’, and because email addresses aren’t complicated to find, it’s simple to interview a person with Qanda. But users can also create open question and share them on their social media or website, allowing everybody to give their opinion.

Choose who you want to interview then type your question.

Answers, more than just words

Communication is not only words, far from it. It’s about the tone of voice, speed, looks, movements… the blink of an eye can say more than a thousand words. That’s what we want to capture with Qanda and that’s why we have chosen video for the answers. Mobile cameras allow to create wonderful images and with 4G, the internet is fast enough to send videos quickly. Because we know 4G is not everywhere yet and that data is expensive for many of you, videos are limited to 30 seconds.

In recording-mode, the progress bar is on top of the screen, close the iPhone lens.

We’ve studied how people film themselves, allowing us to build a recorder that fits the usage perfectly: the viewer and progress bar are really close to the camera so you check the framing while looking into the camera. We’ve also added a teleprompter so you can prepare your answer and read it out loud!

The user can control his recording in the lower part of the screen.

Share with the world

If a question is interesting enough to be asked and enticing enough to be answered, the video should be available for anybody! That’s why we’ve put lots of time and thought in designing our player that is shareable anywhere on the internet. We simplified the design to make sure it looks great on any website, with the question as headline, inviting visitors to view the video.

That’s Qanda, the first app to create video interviews. Qanda will soon be available in the appstore.
