Qtum Community & Development Updates: Week of December 14th-21st

It seems like a busy week is the norm for us lately. A lot of this is foreshadowing for 2018, with all the new events and press articles. Expect a strong Qtum public presence next year, as we are moving beyond the initial launch of our main network back in September. We have released many of the deliverables we said we would for 2017, some were missed, but a lot of new DAPPs were announced.

We understand many of you are waiting for some details about the United Bitcoin airdrop. Please be patient, we are waiting for the go ahead.

There has been a big uptick in the community lately, so thank you all for following our official channels. Everyone is welcome to join us in our journey to make Qtum the most influential smart contract platform.

Internet Governance Forum in Geneva

Our Co-Founder and CEO, Patrick Dai, visited Switzerland to discuss Blockchain technology at the IGF conference in Geneva. The Qtum community came out in force to watch this, the portion with Patrick attracted 16,000+ views on Youtube, while the other sections of the conference were significantly lower. ObEN, the leading US firm in personal AI (PAI) which was invested in by Tencent, has recently announced its plan to build a Blockchain lab with Qtum. ObEN’s has raised over 21 million USD with funding from Tencent, SoftBank & others. ObEN’s developers have been focusing on Project PAI’s applications supported by blockchain technologies for over a year. According to ObEN and Project PAI, the 2 most popular IPs, AI & Blockchain could be combined perfectly.

AWARE

Recently, AWARE announced its plan for a Qtum-based development of their investment management platform for digital assets, aimed to boost the liquidity of innovative assets and to serve blockchain entrepreneurs across the globe.

Beechat

BeeChat, the world’s foremost QTUM-based messenger and cryptocurrency community, updated its app this week with more integration features to foster the development of its open standards blockchain ecosystem.

With the new release, the number of activated users on the platform quickly grew to reach 2 million users only months after initial launch. On top of the core features, the new version will provide more integrated services for users and developers to contribute to and benefit from the open community.

Congratulations to CFun for raising $15 million USD. This did not take long, there was a lot of interest in this DAPP, so we expect to see good things in the months to come:

Qtum Community Development Bounties

The Qtum team has released a lot of developer bounties. We expect these to run over the course of 5 months. We will begin to discuss the finer points with the bounty participants, so please take a look at this document and get on the list if you are interested. We expect work on these to start in early January, with the first round of payments to go out on February 1st.
