Konstantinos Georgatzis, Head of R&D, Data Science, QuantumBlack
There’s just two weeks to go until Vancouver opens its doors to the most innovative and forward-thinking minds in data for the annual Conference on Neural Information Processing Systems (NeurIPS).
As one of the world’s largest global data science and machine learning events, NeurIPS hosts a week of lectures, workshops and tutorials which serve as an indication of what to expect from industry in 2020.
If you are heading to NeurIPS this year, we would love to meet you at our booth (#317), we are also hosting our own events during the week where you will have the opportunity to hear about some of the exciting work that we are doing and receive our daily giveaways!
Discuss Causal Inference & Reinforcement learning
We are hosting a NeurIPS expo workshop on making the right intervention in ‘Casual Inference and Reinforcement Learning’. While the advances in this area of Machine Learning have been hugely exciting, their application in industry is still lagging.
In our workshop, we aim to address this issue by offering an overview of QuantumBlack’s experience implementing these methods by hosting a discussion about practical challenges in real-world applications. Our team will also give more information on effective frameworks, Bayesian Networks and the practical use of Reinforcement Learning.
The workshop will take place on Sunday 8th December. Find out more about the event on the official NeurIPS website.
Join us for The Women of NeurIPS Dinner
We’ve joined forces with Women in Machine Learning to co-host a dinner for the female representatives of the data science community. Join us for an evening of insight and discussion on topics like fairness in machine learning and Kedro, our first ever open-source Python library, designed for building robust production-ready data and analytics pipelines.
The event will take place on Tuesday 10th December at 7:00 pm. Ticket numbers are limited to 30 so we encourage you to sign up quickly! Find out more and sign up via our website.
Explore Experimentation in Data Science
We’re excited to invite NeurIPS attendees to join us for a drinks’ reception and panel discussion on ‘Experimentation in Data Science’. This session will see speakers explore the many facets surrounding this era of pivotal change and innovation in data science.
Join us as we ruminate over the main themes in experimental data this year. Join us and our expert panellists including:
- Alice Schoenauer, Chief Data Scientist, Inspection Générale des Finances
- Mauricio Santillana, Director, Machine Intelligence Lab, BCH and Assistant Professor, Harvard Medical School
- Valérie Bécaert, Director, Element AI Research Group
- Didier Vila, Global Head of Data Science, QuantumBlack
The event will take place from 7:00 pm on Wednesday 11th December for NeurIPS attendees, tickets are limited so we encourage you to apply quickly if you’re interested. Find out more and sign up via our website.
With so much exciting activity during the week we do hope we get to meet you at this year’s NeurIPS!
