A few years ago while developing a simple “login with facebook” system for a website, I was amazed just how much data we could immediately grab and save in our own database. Click “Login with Facebook,” and thanks! Now we have your birthday, location, timeline, etc. —maybe you just wanted to login to that website easier. Most people ignore the notice that they’re giving up that information because it’s not inherently sinister. It was these facebook apps/games, described here, that really got sinister.
