The Components of Horizon View 7

Here’s the list:

Standard/Connection Server: This is View 7’s core component. Since this server is houses the View Administrator Console, this needs to be installed first. This server is where the user defines pools, permissions, applications, etc.

Replica Server: All the additional standard servers are known as Replicas. This is exactly like the standard server but is used to provide load and redundancy balance to improve efficiency.

Security Server: As the name suggests, this server is a part of DMZ to enable secure access to users to Horizon view through the internet.

View Agent: Considered a resource to enable Horizon View

Hardware

For installation, you will need a minimum of two servers — a standard one for establishing the connection and a security server for its key roles. Start with a static IP address on each server. You can scale your available resources as per your individual needs.

Installation

  • Start with the Connection Server. Launch the installer by login to the designated server. Click next to view the ‘license agreement’. Accept the terms and click Next.
  • If you wish to change the installation directory, do it now or simply click Next.
  • Click on the Horizon 7 Standard Server, click to check the Install HTML access box and choose your network protocol (recommended: IPv4). Click Next.
  • Set a password for your backups that View creates. Hit Next.
  • Make sure all the listed firewall ports are enabled. Move to Next.
  • Authorize a specific domain user or domain group. Click Next.
  • If you wish to be a part of the User Experience Improvement Program, check the box and click Next.
  • Hit the Install button to get it started.
  • Wait until done. Click Finish.
  • To start using the program, create a pairing password for the Security Server Installation. Click on the new icon on your desktop — Horizon 7 Administrator Console — to launch.
  • Use your details to login to your account.
  • Welcome to the Horizon View 7 Administrator Console. Click on Servers > Connection Servers > More Commands > Specify Security Server Pairing Password.
  • The pop-up window will appear. Select a password along with the timeout period and click OK.
  • Login to the designated Security Server and launch the installer you used for the Standard Server.
  • Select the Horizon 7 Security Server option on the Installation Options screen and select your network protocol. Click Next.
  • Enter the IP address or Hostname and click Next.
  • Enter the pairing password you opted for. Click Next.
  • Leave the settings at default here. Hit Next.
  • Click Install.
  • When the installation is complete, go back to the main page. Under Servers > Security Servers you can now see the connection has been paired.
