1. University of Glasgow, Scotland
Harry Potter fan? You won’t be disappointed with our first selection. This Hogwarts-esque university in Glasgow, Scotland was founded in 1451. It’s known to be a research powerhouse and is renown for their teaching — rated amongst the top 10 in the United Kingdom. This obviously has something to do with the fact that eighteen of their subject areas were also placed within the top 10 in the UK.
2. University of Otago, New Zealand
Looking more like a castle fit for a princess than a university, our next choice is located in Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand and was established in 1869. They’re known for their lively student life as well as their student housing — also known as flats.
3. The Queen’s University of Belfast, Northern Ireland
One of the only things more beautiful than the outside of the Queen’s University of Belfast, is the inside. Meticulous architecture is a large reason why this university made a spot on our list. But, they’re also known globally for their breakthrough studies on cancer, wireless technology and pharmaceuticals, to name a few.
4. University of Bologna, Italy
The University of Bologna is not only one of the most beautiful universities in the world, it’s also the very first. Founded in 1088, this school has 11 different branches and has a high world-rating for its Law program.
5. University of Nottingham, England
The University of Nottingham — although separate campuses depicted in the photos — has embraced a both modern and classical style to their schools. Making it a refreshing blend of new and old to cap-off the list. Their main campus was founded in 1881.
