This verse is one of the most searched online dealing with God’s promise to Abraham. This blessing from God is key for giving Abraham the support and courage necessary to move with his family, out of their home country, into the lands of Canaan. There they will establish themselves, prosper and eventually grow their family. In Genesis 12:7, God will further bless Abraham saying, “Unto thy seed will I give this land”.

Eventually, when Abraham is 99 years old, God will make good on His promise to Abraham. This is when God forms a covenant with Abraham telling him he will be the father of many nations. Abraham and his also elderly wife will bear a child who will become the offspring to fulfill the promise.
