I have seen some questions come up about Adel and if it has developed its own blockchain or cloned one?
Adel is a Community-based Blockchain Incubator for Startups with its own self-sustaining ecosystem and digital currency Adelphoi (ADL coin).
It’s focus is not on developing a blockchain platform, but to use the technology for the to-be-incubated projects.
Does a Blockchain Incubator need a Blockchain of its Own?
Since there are so many good blockchain platforms making great progress on innovation and security, Adel chose to use an Existing Blockchain for themselves and get all the benefits.
Adel is developing Community Modules like Voting, Trading, Collaboration and Marketing that need Blockchain technology for their immutability, security and transparancy, aside from the transparancy and security towards the Community members.
Adel chose Nxt Blockchain after some research as they have the most built-in features that are heavily tested for years. Ethereum is a great platform, but the features Adel needed are 3rd party and not all built-in.
In Q1 2018 Adel is migrating to Ardor Platform, because of the child chain option. Having an own child chain gives Adel the opportunity to move from being an asset on Nxt Blockchain to owning a small blockchain, secured by the Ardor main-chain and having its own native Adelphoi coin (also for transactions) as now NXT is also needed, like Gas in Ethereum.
Side chains on other blockchain platforms require you to handle your own Infrastructure and Security. With Ardor Child Chains this is not needed as all of this is arranged by the Main-chain.
Blockchain-space Research For Each To-Be Incubated Project
As described above, Adel is currently using Nxt Blockchain for their Community modules, but this doesn’t mean every to-be incubated project will be on Nxt.
All blockchains are welcome and for every Idea -> Project the best suited blockchain will be chosen.
The first project that is announced will be on Ethereum, called iFin.io and is currently in the I2 phase within Adel Ecosystem.
