Love scales: An ancient spiritual truth

I wrote a blog once that about 3 people read. In it, I quoted behaviorist psychologist John B. Watson, who wrote, “The driving force in society is not love, but fear.” Behaviorists were famous for experimenting on babies. They would take something they weren’t afraid of and make them afraid of it by hurting them. It occurred to me that with perverted minds like that, of course they would come to the conclusion that fear was the driving force in society. What if they had given the babies love, instead? Unfortunately, the idea caught on and manufacturing fear has been a mainstay of advertising and propaganda ever since. Personally, I like this quote from Wm. Blake: “He who binds to himself a joy, doth its winged life destroy. He who kisses a joy as it flies, lives in eternity’s sunrise.”
