A self-righteous open letter to people who write self-righteous open letters to people who write…

My cousin followed in his father’s footsteps as a machinist. His father was able to buy a nice home and get good retirement benefits. My cousin has neither. It’s not because he’s lazy. He works just as hard, but the opportunity isn’t there anymore. I’m just lucky I moved to Australia in 1985. Back then, Australia was like the U.S. in the fifties. Homes were affordable and blue collar workers could make a decent living. Times change and bragging about how anyone can succeed in America (or Australia, now) if they work hard just doesn’t work today. Blue collar or white collar, the opportunities are no longer there for an increasing number of people. Of course, Trump will fix that, won’t he? Just had to throw that in.
