I am not as confident that the AHCA will never become law. And while I agree that there is plenty of room to improve the ACA, the basic premise it rests upon — shifting from reactive to preventive medicine — is the only way we will ever gain control of health care costs. The ACA is also saving taxpayer money — i.e., through reducing uncompensated care costs, which is an effect that will accumulate over time. Uninsured, unhealthy people cost taxpayers a lot of money.
