Olivia Wilde Says Our iPhones Make Now The Best Time To Be An Artist

The actress directed a new music video shot entirely on the iPhone 6s.
RYOT shot the behind the scenes of the new Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros’ music video “No Love Like Yours” and it’s amazing. Technical advisor Stash Slionski used his iPhone 6s to capture the stunning behind the scenes footage.
The song “No Love Like Yours” is the lead single off of the band’s upcoming album “PersonA”, due out April 15th via Community Music.
The video was directed by actress Olivia Wilde, shot by award-winning cinematographer Reed Morano and produced by Anonymous Content. Wilde and Morano shot entirely on the iPhone 6s Plus.

Wilde believes that the current democratization of content production made possible by smartphones is allowing anyone to become a filmmaker. “Filmmaking is no longer reserved for a small group of professionals with large budgets. It’s a wonderful time to be an artist,” said Wilde.
RYOT co-founder Bryn Mooser is thrilled about the possibility of shooting high quality video on our smartphones. RYOT already uses the iPhone to shoot many of its videos and documentaries. “Every so often a technology comes along that can radically change not only entertainment but also culture. Now with a 4k camera on your iPhone, you have the means to democratize storytelling,” said Mooser.
He also believes it is the most exciting thing to happen to filmmaking since VHS.

Shooting the music video on the iPhone 6s, which is small and light, allowed for less intimidating and intrusive shooting, according to Wilde. Instead of watching from afar on a monitor, Wilde
“enjoyed staying close to the operators as they filmed. It saved time.”
