Unfortunately it’s not that simple. Children don’t often have effective say in such a matter. If a child is attending a religious school, chances are very good that their parents have them there for a reason, and will do whatever is in their power to avoid public schooling. Indoctrination is the goal of such private schools, and children learn very different values in public schools.
I wish this were not the case, but it generally happens this way.
