Genuine question: If identity politics isn’t a thing (or more importantly, is a falsehood of recent invention), why do you care what others label you? Identity politics, at its core, says what others label us can have consequences outside our direct intervention. If we ‘quit with’ the identity politics, we dispense with the idea labels applied by others matter so we can be labeled anything and it’s immaterial. If we ‘quit with’ the labels, then they do matter and you want them to be labels of your choosing. Labels matter or they don’t, It can’t be both, yes?
