I think you’re sort of making the point.
Define your terms. How are things “hopeless”? Why is positive change impossible? The work required is always long-term and great victories come amid horrible losses. I think that’s the problem. People want easy solutions, hence Trump-mania. But these are not easy problems: disappearing jobs, gun violence, racist hatred, climate change government starved for $$$. It seems we either deny the problem’s existence or blame the poor and immigrants or throw up our hands and say “I give up!”
All three of those responses lead to very bad things.
I’m a gay Arab-American living on SS disability after suffering an aortic dissection. I lost my career and my health and my standard of living. I also lost a lot of friends who are afraid of illness and poor health.
If I can stay grateful & hopeful, what’s your excuse?
