That’s intuitive. Why a post generates recommends, however, is harder to pin down. It speaks more to the substance of a post, which, I’m sure we can agree, is a better indicator of quality. As such, Medium should incorporate a recommend ratio, specifically a recommend-to-read ratio.

I agree completely. I always thought the lack of a recommend ratio left a big gap in the stats. I’m always curious about what makes a post (usually a poem, in my case) appeal to readers, or not. Thank you for writing this post, Pablo Andreu, hopefully Medium will listen to your suggestions!
