Heibai Wuchang, the black guard and white guard of the Chinese underworld, is said to haunt the deathbed to guide the deceased’s soul to the realm of the dead.

In Chinese mythology, a legend is as old as the dynasties themselves.

Even when Qin Shi Huang was the first emperor, people believed strongly in the afterlife. And as in other cultures, they created the figure of a “guide” to assist them on the journey to reincarnation.

To this day, these reapers are worshipped by millions and are considered an essential part of the Chinese religion.

The Legend Of Heibai Wuchang.

The following is but one of many versions of the legend of Heibai Wuchang.

A very long time ago in ancient China, two constables lived: Xie Bi An and Fan Wu Jiu.

One day they were assigned to escort a prisoner from one city to another.

However, the criminal managed to escape halfway across the vast Chinese territory.
