Cloud storage capability

It’s phenomenal the volume of terabytes that can be stored today particularly with the cloud storage offered. I read an article a few years ago that I thought quite thought provoking and think you might as well.

Information content of a pile of computer chips increases in proportion with the number of chips or, equivalently, the volume they could occupy. That simple rule must break down for a large enough pile of chips because eventually the information would exceed the holographic bound, which depends on the surface area, not the volume. The “Breakdown” occurs when the immense pile of chips collapses to form a black hole.

Hmmm… makes you wonder doesn’t it.
