Water, today’s investment commodity
I’m currently visiting Juneau Alaska and had heard prior to visiting that in a normal winter there will be approximately 85 inches of snow. I learned from a local that the winter of 2015/2016 brought very little snow and when it did, it was followed by rain which depleted most of it. Where I call home on Vancouver Island B.C. Ca. we had an unusually dry spring, summer and fall in 2015. All indications are that we are headed for drier, hotter seasons which promises to make water a precious commodity and is expected to continue to be in the foreseeable future.
The reason I bring this to your attention is that I watched a documentary today related to how we were all being duped into believing that climate change is a hokes. The disturbing part about that is that this kind of attitude can undermine peoples efforts to conserve this precious resource at a time when it is very important we all co operate in an effort to deal with this phenomenon and not dismiss it as a fallacy.
Next time you have a refreshing drink of cold water, keep in mind that it is becoming a commodity that cannot be taken for granted any longer.
