Good News: Your yet-to-be-born baby’s name has an available domain name!

If you thought parents are weird and finicky about baby names, this article will blow your mind! Did you know that parents are now looking for baby names that have the corresponding domain names available? You have probably heard that one before but then GoDaddy did something that indicates that expecting parents are taking this trend to a whole new level!
GoDaddy is one of the biggest domain registrars and recently it conducted a study of 1000 millennial parents in the age bracket of 24–38 and 1000 GenX parents aged between 39–53. The results were quite astonishing:
- 48% of millennial parents considered their child’s early-life online presence important, compared to just 27% of Gen X respondents.
- 94% of all survey respondents plan to educate their children about maintaining their online presence responsibly.
- 20% of millennial parents have created a website for their children, suggesting that a website can be a helpful tool for parents to mentor kids about thoughtful management of their online identity.
- 37% of parents believe personal websites will replace social media, so they created a website with this in mind.
It’s safe to say that besides leaving the hospital with a birth certificate, babies will now walk out with a shiny, domain name too.

Why are expecting parents so obsessed with their yet-to-be-born baby’s domain name?
One of the biggest concerns haunting most parents is that the domain name of choice might not be available by the time their babies become teens/adults. This fear probably heightened when someone claimed the .com domain name for Britney Spears’s 11-month-old son before she could.
As a result, parents are choosing weirder and weirder names so that their child can grow up with a unique identity — online and offline.

For all these parents, we have some good news. Since you are looking at the bigger picture and being future-focused when it comes to your baby’s life, it helps to be a little innovative too.
You don’t have to compromise on your baby’s name just because you’re afraid you won’t get the web address you want. With new domain extensions such as .ONLINE, .WEBSITE, and .SITE, you can give your child the name you always wanted — be it your favorite character from your top book/series/movie or just a word you love.
If Beyonce and Jay-Z could name their child Blue Ivy, you can very well name your kid Tyrion and guess what..www.tyrion.online is available!

To put things in perspective, an investment of $1 a year is minuscule compared to the cost of diapers and college tuition. You can be assured that your child will always have a strong online identity that she/he can be proud of! Besides, having a domain name will give them an opportunity to have a brandable email address that won’t look like cool_tyrion_dude@gmail.com. The mistakes that we made, our kids won’t have to!
Instead, it could be something like:

To put it simply, emily@emilysmith.site is better than emilysmith25_connect@gmail.com. You don’t have to compromise just because 24 other Emily Smiths have beaten your kid to Google’s Gmail service.
Given how things are progressing, it wouldn’t be a surprise if parents start registering their kids’ names on social media platforms such as Twitter and Instagram and start posting content on their behalf (until the kids can).
The Internet sure is the 21st century version of the new world. So why not flow with the times and do the next generation of kids a favor:
- Give them a name they won’t be embarrassed about (Khaleesi? Really!?)
- Secure their domain name that they can be proud of! (www.khaleesi.website is available right now, BTW)

So, who are you expecting?
