Week in Review 7/30–8/5 2023
What’s good people in the world today!
I’m RahMega and we’re back for another Star Atlas Chatter! If this is your first time, basically this series stems from me lurking in the Star Atlas’ discord, Atlas Brew, Town Halls and more looking to pluck out that sweet Alpha coming straight from the Star Atlas team.
Although, there is often a lot of Alpha that is released throughout the week, this series will focus primarily on actionable intelligence so you can stay informed and up to date on all matters from a Play&Earn, economic standpoint.
Let’s jump in!
Discord Chatter
Crew Drop Rarity & Mobile on hold?
Q: Is there a chance to roll up to the rarity of the purchased ship on crew drops? Or will all drops be completely random rarity?
Michael explains Whitelisting:
Ship Rarity- Does it mean anything?
Ship rarity has been a long standing question for the Star Atlas community and it has been quite confusing at times. Here, Michael Wagner touches on it.
So basically, a Rainbow Om (Epic) will have more rarer resources needed to construct as compared to a Pearce F4 (Rare), at least, that’s how I’m reading it.
IMP — Mining Rig Update Inbound
If you’ve been in the market for an IMP class mining ship, you may have noticed that the IMP Tap and IMP do not have the Mining Rig component listed in the description. However, the lower tiered IMP Tip does.
It appears this was an oversite and the team will be correcting soon™.
Chypto confirms:
Modules vs. Interior Updates
Furthermore, Chypto has confirmed that the update components/modules ship stats will be valid for the first release of SAGE Labs. However, the ship interior details will take more time and will not make the initial release.
Fleet Benefits
Q: What’s the purpose of a fleet?
More to Fleets than just Combat…
In responding to a community question, Chypto gives us a good idea of how fleets will play a huge role for gameplay/progression outside of combat.

Atlas Brew Chatter
The Atlas Brew #73 took place Wednesday and Michael pop-in with some interesting commentary on the new raffle system coming to SAGE Labs.
Michael is “ALL-IN on Golden Tickets!”
At first, I wasn’t too thrilled about the golden tickets, I mentioned that last week. However, after hearing Michaels enthusiasm during the Brew, I going to reconsider. I look forward to learning more about the system and seeing how it works once we’re able to get our hands on it!
Michael Wagner continued to share some light on the topic. Here’s a summary:
- Golden tickets — will be a craftable recipe that require inputs such as components
- Crafting decision tree — Keep components? Sell Components? Redeem component for Golden ticket? Sell GTs or Redeem GTs to be entered into weekly drawing? Redeem components for another asset with a guaranteed outcome?
- Golden ticket crafting — will be craftable on day one, but the raffle system will not start for 426. You’ll have plenty of time to load up on GTs!
- Burned after use — Golden tickets are one time use, but you have the option to use the ticket(s) whenever you want on any given week.
- Components carry forward — components will be useable in future releases on SAGE, for example “possibly” crafting and constructing Starbases, etc.
It’s important to note, the SA team has gone back and forth on whether components will be used to construct Starbases or not, so take that part with a grain of salt. However, the morale of the story is, components will be needed in future versions of the game.
Well, that’s all Folks! Thanks for stopping by!
Now, time to get back to Baldur’s Gate 3!
RahMega Out!
