Coaches Needed!
I got an email from Michael Douglas today. It started with
This has gotta make you guys feel good…your little boy is growing up…
This is from a pretty nice enterprise prospect of mine.
Good stuff Mike. But you undersell your intuition regarding the issues that are important to us. Your insights are more than just asking basic questions. You either have awesome mentors or are a very quick study. Probably a combination of both. I’ve been in this business over 24 years and no one has been able to have the conversation we had earlier today. Regardless of whether or not I purchase your services, keep up the great work!
Then he sends another email…
….and then Noah Goldman asked me if I would be on his podcast. He wants to do a show about self-development as a rep and how I invested in myself. He does the enterprise sales podcast
Crazy right?
So, Michael popped on my radar almost 3 years ago by downloading my best sales questions and subscribing to my blog.

He lurked for quite a while. A year and a half later, I sent this email.

He, Carole and I danced for over 3 months until he sent this in response to a blog post.

Three years ago, Mike would have been upset and embarrassed that I shared this, but he’s stronger now. He’s a thought leader, and an author and hangs with some smart people. He doesn’t have the word “coach” on his business card, but he’s already got people asking.
So, why did I write this article and what does the title mean?
Michael’s not the only client that wanted to be coached and in being coached learned how to coach. As a matter of fact, I’ve had the pleasure of working with hundreds of clients that used their coaching skills as sales managers, and became directors, VPs, CEOs as well as founded their own startups.
Are you coachable? Could you be the next great coach? There’s hundreds of salespeople out there that need you.
