Secret behind Trump’s Teflon coating and his appeal.

Actually it’s quite simple.

For decades, the republican party has espoused the idea that what is good for rich people is good for you. They told people we are focusing on rich people, so you’ll want to be one too.

So the party faithfuls swallowed the pill and stood on the one side of the moat, while the rich feasted on the other side.
Many had doubts, but a true conservative was always supposed to be strong and faithful.

Until…

One of the rich people from the other side got up and crossed the side. He had a message: ‘You have been duped for decades. Nothing what the gatekeepers (party establishment) are telling is true. You guys aren’t benefiting, only people like me. Now if you follow me. I can show you how to win.’

That’s it. Trump’s appeal is this rich guy who broke the rank when he didn’t need to and bothered to come to them. He is taking pains that he needn’t take but he’s doing it. That’s why Trump always reiterates: I don’t need to do this. I’ve lots of money. You are not winning. We will win. I’m different. I’m common sense conservative etc.

What about Romney in 2012, you may ask. Yes, Romney had money but he kept on repeating the same thing what the party establishment was telling. But by that time, people’s suspicions had strengthened. They knew gatekeepers have sent this man. Something is not right.

For Trump, it helps that republican party establishment fights him. Media and elite scorn him. That’s make him a rebel in the eyes of the grass roots. They know he’s crass, vulgar but they believe Trump needn’t have to do this, but still he’s doing it for them.

To be clear, I don’t think many of the party members think his goals are purely altruistic. But he has shown to take up business losses after he announced. So that makes him a new messiah — Ready to suffer for them and lose money if need be. So they ignore the ads and media rebukes. That’s why Donald wins primaries across the states.
