Last weekend, some 2500 Virginians attended the annual Remote Area Medical (RAM) clinic in Wise, Virginia.

Ralph Northam spent Saturday afternoon at the clinic, treating patients.

Here’s a look back at the RAM clinic and the people who depend on it:

People wait in line at the Wise County RAM clinic. Some waited overnight for treatment.
Saturday was a hot and muggy July day in Wise. Here, people wait in tents for their turn with healthcare providers.
When asked about his participation at the RAM clinic, Ralph called it “just another day at work”.
Lots of people who visit the clinic don’t have enough insurance to cover preventive care — but that’s the best means of maintaining good health.
Ralph met the founder of the RAM clinic, Stan Brock, to learn more about rural healthcare and to thank him for his work.
