Please don’t feel sorry for me. I live a pretty wonderful life. Your assumptions about my motivations say much more about you than they do about me. I am not voting to be “part of the winning bandwagon.” My vote isn’t about me. My vote is about selecting the next President of the United States. I want to do everything in my power to make sure Clinton wins, not because I feel so great about being on the winning team, but because I care about climate change, LGBT rights, women's rights, and the Supreme Court.
It’s important to vote for Clinton because Trump might win. Clinton will do good things for the county, and Trump will do bad things. When we have a binary choice, and one is good and the other is bad, it seems like it’s pretty easy to decide.
But the fact that you think I’m voting because of how it makes me feel rather than because of the result indicates that you’re voting because of the way it makes you feel. It’s your own personal statement, not about all the people who will be affected by it. And I think that’s a very cavalier attitude to have about the awesome power and responsibility that comes from being a U.S. voter.
