Four Futures of the Music Business
Cortney Harding

This is a very interesting way to look at the future of the music business. The music industry has changed dramatically over the last two decades and will continue to do so as technology and culture continues to evolve. It’s quite likely that music will be given away for free in the future. This not impossible; Jamaica although a very small nation has given the world three popular music forms Ska, Dancehall (which is often sampled by US Hip Hop & R&B acts) and Reggae. This country once had a thriving music industry when vinyl was the main format on which music was sold. With the introduction of CDs and the MP3 format vinyl went out and Jamaican music sales has continued to plummet since the end of the 90s. As a matter of fact the vast majority of people living in that country do not by music.
