Rey is a Kenobi

“It’s Ben Kenobi in the earlier episodes that is truly virtuous, noble and pure of heart. He’s our true hero. He’s incorruptible. He sacrifices himself at the end of A New Hope to show Luke the power of faith in the force, saving him and the galaxy in the process.”

Obi-Wan is the human version of Yoda, a Jedi to the last. To break his vows, any of them, means he is not incorruptible and that he is not a Jedi Master but just another failed Jedi.

Worse, if he wasn’t true to the Jedi code, then he is just more proof that we do not believe we can do hard things.

It gets even worse. The community knew Old Ben was a hermit. Was Ren’s Kenobi other grandparent (Obi-Wan’s child) just a one night stand for Old Ben and was Obi-Wan a deadbeat dad? Did her parents continue this Kenobi tradition of absentee parents and abandon her on Jakku?

Obi-Wan Kenobi becomes a much less noble figure if Ren is his granddaughter.
