Both boys and girls need to be raised to respect themselves and each other. What I find with teenage boys is they often talk about how it’s drilled into them to respect women. When they go through being manipulated, used or flat out disrespected by their female peers, this message falls apart.
Then they lean more towards self preservation, it feels better than being a doormat of sorts. No one should feel like that. I teach them that women and men need to earn your respect through their actions. Everyone is on a case by case basis. They seem to respond well to that. Now they can just have one standard for everyone.
