Feeling Flint: Fin.

It’s Friday. Our flight out of Detroit is just after 11am. We are still lamenting that there aren’t any later flights to accommodate our team of 8 so that we could help unload an incoming tractor trailer full of water.

Before leaving, I find myself standing at the edge of the Flint River. I am disgusted. It is filthy, brown and smells of more than just toxins — it smells of deceit, disease and detriment.

I experienced moments of joy and sorrow in Flint that words cannot do proper justice. My mind wanders back to the people I met and the things I saw. In some ways, it is haunting.

I want to go back. I do not want to slip into complacency and forget Flint like much of the country already has.

There is so much more than can and needs to be done. I am amazed at how God has blessed First Trinity with a flow of water donations and their willingness to serve without complaint.

I share my experience in hopes that you will be moved to action. We must fight for each other.
