Faculty Death

On the tragic side, a Mountain East University professor education passed away this morning after losing her fight with cancer. Professor Elizabeth Billson had taught at Mountain East for 36 years. She was just awarded the university’s prestigious “Outstanding Professor” award last year. Mountain East University officials estimate that she taught over 10,000 of our future educators during her tenure as a professor, giving her an impact not only on those educators, but also on the children they will teach. She had been fighting against cancer for 10 years. She was 58 years old.

Wreck

Two trucks crashed last night on I-59 causing massive back-ups and destroying thousands of dollars of refrigerated goods. The accident occurred on a section of I-59 that was undergoing construction. Police say that both trucks braked, but still ran into each other in a head-on collision. Fuel from the trucks leaked out and caused an oil slick which added to the issues that caused a 45 minute traffic jam in either direction. Both drivers were unharmed, but they have been cited for speeding and reckless driving.
