IT’S RAVE DAY, WOO! Ok, now what do I wear? Do I go for cool, sexy, or comfort? Are pants optional? (Yes). Should I wear my brotank? (No). How about this furry thing? (Maybe).
Your rave gear needs to be functional to support you, it should express your style, and most of all, it needs to be fun, because you’re about to have an awesome time. Now let’s gear up!

1. Kandi
EDM has the best culture in the world. And part of that is the kandi tradition. It’s awesome, simple, and unique to us. Use it to express yourself, decorate and accessories, and connect with other ravers. Get together with your friends before and make enough kandi to go share.
Then trade with your friends, ravers dancing next to you, and that cute girl you saw ;). Checking out your treasures the next morning brings back those good feels. Peace. Love. Unity. Respect.
2. Comfortable Shoes
Make sure you’re rocking closed toe shoes. You and your friends are going to be tearing up the dance floor, and you’ll likely end up bumping into a few people, so keep those puppies protected.
Plus, you can’t do the Melbourne Shuffle in high heels. And if you do, send us the video (please ;))
3. Sunglasses
Raves are about the experience and being in the moment. The visuals are as intense as the music with lasers, strobes, colors, and projectors. It can be a lot if you’re front row or watching the light show for a while. Many of us prefer to bring them, and we’ll have them on and off at different parts of the show. Plus, you’re wearing sunglasses at night, you badass =).
4. Breathable Clothing
You’re going to be dancing your face off all night. Comfort is as important sexy. Make sure your gear is going to hold up to your crazy dance moves, keep you cool, and make you look cool.
What to wear to an EDM music festival rave? Most people recommend as little clothing as possible… and polyester for what you do choose to wear. Polyester is the best material because it’s light, it won’t get damp and heavy with sweat, and it drys fast. Find your balance between comfort and cool.
5. Neon + Glow in the Dark Gear
The lasers and light shows are part of the experience, including black lights. Neon colors really pop and stand out in any rave, and especially at night time.
You’re glowing, what’s cooler than that? Dancing in a sea of neon, so awesome.
6. Ear Plugs
“Now kiddos, don’t sit too close to the speakers or you’ll hurt your ears!” Ok, we won’t say that, and I’ll admit I don’t always wear ear plugs. But I’ve also been front row at plenty festival raves, and extremely happy I brought them.
If you find yourself directly in front of the speaker stack, you’ll be glad you remembered ear plugs. Your ears are going to be ringing for days regardless, but ear plugs will save you from the piercing headache.
7. Backpack/Fanny Pack
Like athletic gear, most rave clothing doesn’t have many pockets. And when you’re dancing like a possessed animal, you don’t want to take a chance of dropping your phone, wallet, keys, or dignity (keep that locked up tight). Backpacks and fanny packs are very common to keep your valuables close.
8. Sweat Bands
Utility and cool factor! When you’re sweating like a fiend, you’ll be glad you brought it. Limit it to one or two sweat bands. More than that and they’ll weigh you down.
Plus, they look cute on the ladies ;)
9. A Smile! =)
