Agreed, but who decides if the college has fulfilled its responsibility? I’m guessing there are people in your graduating class who are employed in the more traditional sense and do feel prepared for the work force. How do we know when a college has truly failed its students and when some of those students simply aren’t willing or motivated enough to find a job? Like garli , I majored in something (International Relations) completely unrelated to my current field of work (biotech), yet there is no doubt that the critical thinking, writing, and analytical skills learned in my IS major have helped me in a vastly different field.
