If I exclude all spending related to our wedding and mini-honeymoon, I’ve done excellent! If you count it, then it looks pretty awful.
I haven’t made any big purchases (unless you count car insurance, but that’s saved for by accruing a small amount each month throughout the year), and we’ve gone out to eat at a sit-down restaurant exactly twice since May — the occasional take out burrito & breakfast sandwich excluded. The next biggest discretionary spend category is clothing, and I’ve stayed within my normal ~$100/month for that although I need to replace my running shoes soon. We’re in another busy season for work, so for better or for worse that really limits my spending since most dinners are provided at the office these days and I’m either spending my weekends working a bit or just happily sitting on the couch reading a library book.
