In HS, my only official W-2 job was teaching tennis during the summer. I made $7.25/$7.50/$8.15 an hour in 2005, 2006, 2007, respectively. The summer earnings went straight into a bank account, and I didn’t touch them until my freshman year of college when I needed to buy books.

My parents didn’t want me to have a regular part-time job during the school year because they thought the time was better spent studying, so they were very generous and paid all car related expenses. I did earn a little money from random side jobs like baby-pet-house sitting for my discretionary spending during the year, which consisted of movies, clothes, going out to eat with friends, etc.
