A Pizza vs. Money Question of the Day
Nicole Dieker

In my current job, I work occasionally with the sales compensation folks, and sales contests with non-monetary rewards normally result in better outcomes than ones with straight up cash prizes (i.e., higher percentage of folks reach target). Take that, academic economists that live and die by the utility curve!

ETA: Should add that the sales reps’ base salary and target bonus are already really generous, so maybe the cash vs. material good behavior is different depending on whether you already have basic needs met.
